Draw at South Normanton

South Normanton Athletic FC 2 Teversal FC 2

A excellent workout for both clubs this afternoon in a blazing afternoons sunshine. Teversal nearly took the lead within the first minute but they were denied by good goalkeeping. Teversal did then take the lead after a fair open exchance of chances, but then the homesters hit back to equalise. Right on Half time, Teversal scored as the Normno defence stopped to appeal instead of playing to the whistle and then the ref blew for half time. The second half saw Normo go close and eventually with 15 minutes left score a well deserved equaliser. Enterance as £2 which has gone in to the charity pot and 4 goals scored at 25p each making £3 to the total.

The Friendly Welfares

CLIPSTONE WELFARE 1 GEDLING MINERS WELFARE 0

Got up this morning with the intention of going to Kirkby Town v Askern Villa this afternoon, but when I switched on to my facebook account, there was a kind message from the Kirkby Secretary Mrs Michelle Thorpe letting me know that their match had been called off due to Askern being unable to field a side, so  I looked on my blog and saw the above fixture and rang Les Graham to see if this game was on and found it to be. With Hazel being up at her daughter's in Preston, David had aid he would have Shawn for me, so the usual 10 minute journey in Hazel's car took 2 buses and nearly 2 hours to Clipstone. On arrival, Les Graham greeted me with a cup of coffee and told me I hadnt to pay to come in, so the £3 entry has gone in to the Charity total.

It was then good to meet up with old faces that I've not seen for a long time and have a chat from Gedling Miners Welfare FC, Norman and Tony Hay and many more who I know the faces to but can never remember the names of,.but always a friendly group.

I then went and sat near to the corner flag side of the ground for the First Half of the game and both sides came out with new squads, Clipstone with their newly appointed Manager Cas, who has bought in some of the old Forest Town side and kept a mixture of players from Clipstone from last season and Gedling had a young looking side, who's average age looked around the 20 years mark.

The game started at a bright pace and Gedling seemed to look lively down the right wing, but Clipstone also had some good chances and at times the young 17 year old keeper in the Gedling net had to be called on and did a terrific job, he looks a good lad for the future. Eventually with everyone thinking shall I go for my half time cuppa, Clipstone broke forward and Carter scuffed a shot which most in the ground though had gone wide, but it had nestled in the back of the net, though Carter reckons after the match it was a clean hit lol

The second half was a bit of cat and mouse with Gedling pressing forward and looking more likely to score, but on the other hand Clipstone breaking and making their opponents clear off the line and also wasting a few good chances. The match finished at 1-0 but was a good run out for both sides and then Mr Clipstone Barry Clarke gave me a lift home.many thanks Barry.

CITY SLAY THE VILLA

SOUTHWELL CITY 3 ASKERN VILLA 1

In the leafy City of Southwell, more famous for the Bramley Apple, All Weather Race Course and Minster is a little football club with a picturesque surrounding inside the War Memorial Recreaton Ground.
As I was dropped off by Hazel in the Car Park, I was spotted by the visitors Manager Brian Johnson, who said this should be a good workout today.. In to the ground I entered and straight in to the clubhouse, where I was met by the Southwell City Committee, this Committee must be one of the loyalist and long serving committees that I know, there's Mick Clough and his wife, the man with the smiling face and glasses and beard, no idea of his name but he seems to have been there years, Colin Abbott the Chairman and ..well where is he..Pat Johnson(he wasnt there today, he was on holiday..This committee, if you added up the years they have been with Southwell City, I dont think I would be too far out in totaling 150 years in service!
After a chat, i popped outside and spoke to Villas Sec Ian, but then did it rain, well more of a monsoon, the players sprint back from the top pitch that was being used for todays match..it was a case of having a quick shower!
At 3pm, it was still raining so I strolled up the hill and nestled under some trees and still got wet! The rain stopped and allowed me to take a few pics in which time in the 30 minute spell Southwell had blasted in to a 2 goal lead.

Just before half time, everyone headed towards the cover of the trees, as we had a mini storm with the loud bang of thunder, but to the credit of both sets of players, they carried on playing. Just after Half time, Askern began to attack and pulled a goal back, whilst City put on a few of their young subs and it looked likely at this stage that the visitors would gain the upper hand, but then a lovely ball up the left wing, saw the winger twist and turn and fire home to put the game beyond doubt.

In the clubhouse afterwards, I was thanked by Southwell City Manager Jonathan Simpson and he donated £5 towards the blog charity and then ex City Manager handed me £10 .
Later in the evening at Radford Football Club, a football card was taken round at their event and £50 was also raised. I would like to thank all these very generous people who have donated towards the cause.

NEWLY NAMED CLUB WIN THEIR FIRST PRE-SEASON MATCH AT MILL LANE

PARKHOUSE FC 1 WORKSOP PARRAMORE FC 3
Pre-season Friendly
Admission £2(that went in to the charity total)
Crowd Headcount: 53

On arrival at Mill Lane, the home of Parkhouse FC, I was greeted by the three Gents on the gate with a smile as usual, I went to pay the £2 entry and was told no, go on in, so i bought £2 of raffle and promised to put the £2 in as donation to why I am doing this blog. I then went over to say Hello to John, who was sorry he could make me a cuppa, but I told him I didnt want a free one, as I'm not on the League anymore and he said well when ever you come here, you'll get a free cuppa. They are in present doing the new portacabin up which will be open next weekend and named the "Bonanza Hospitality Suite" and I have been kindly asked by Club Secretary Dave "Nobby" Clarke. The Three Officials arrived and had a chat with me and then the team managers. Iwent outside and for the second week running I bumped in to my friends from Chesterfield, Mr Chris Marsh and his dad. Towards 2pm and with a early kick off, I strolled down to the stand and out of the blazing sun and sat on a plastic chair.

This was both sides first Pre-season Friendly and the First match since Parramore had altered their name to Worksop Parramore from Sheffield Paramore. Parramore won the CMFL Supreme Championship last season and were promoted in to the Northern Counties East League, whilst the Central Midlands League alters to a North and South Divisions with Parkhouse FC beginning this coming season in the Northern Division.

The match kicked off at a frantic pace and the Parramore number 11 on a lovely sunny July afternoon was spotted wearing Gloves! I wonder what he wears in December & January when it gets a tad colder! He was causing the Parkhouse defense some problems but they kept him at bay in numbers at the back. Parkhouse though were creating the better of the chances and deserved to go in front after 25 minutes. They looked like they were going to hold on to that lead till half time, but just as you say that, a equaliser pops in a minute before the coffee break.

With all the swops etc in the Second Half, both sides gave a few youngsters and new players a run out and the match was still at a frantic pace but the away side was starting to find a lot more space and a lot more openings in that defence of the home side, so it came as no surprise when they took the lead. Parkhouse FC never gave up and on several occasions could well have been on equal terms if not for some very good goalkeeping, but the visitors broke away again and put the scoreline to bed.

If you have never been to Parkhouse FC, you will always be greeted there, for Hoppers, they do have on sale Parkhouse Mugs and Club Badges and other items. On the ground is a tea bar that does burgers etc.

The Pre-Season has Begun

Teversal FC 0 Carlton Town FC 1
Admission £2 including programme
Attendance: 81
Well the Pre-season Friendlies began today with me ringing up South Normanton's Sec Phil Handley to check that their match was still taking place v Kiveton Park at 3pm, finding out it was off, it was then a quick phonecall to Tevvie Sec Kev Newton to check that their 1pm kick off v Carlton Town was on, so the finishing of a nice breakfast served up by Mrs H set me up nicely, though those dark clouds outside my back window looked very daunting.
Off to Tevvie, Mrs H drove except for forgetting that Tevvie isnt towards Sutton in Ashfield and we had to turn round in a  pub car park when I had explain her mistake, she was dead chuffed..NOT!
I arrived at the ground and paid my 2 quid to get in and was give a funny shaped programme, but great to see one produced as I wasnt expecting one, then I bumped in to Chris Marsh and a few of the Chesterfield Hoppers and then saw the "Bearded Wonder" Malc(the man of the blogs!)..He hadnt even got in the ground before we was both grabbed by the raffle lads. Then we was joined by the smartly dressed Mr Dennett.

Well the dark clouds that were in Mansfield must have stayed there, as I wore a lovely yellow t-shirt and all the damn black bugs that were in the Teversal area must have seen me, as they all headed towards me and landed on me .

The game kicked off and I was surprised that the players didnt stop for a drinks break, but I did, as I downed a lovely diet coke, more people came and spoke to me, but they were getting attacked by the bugs, so they decided to go and talk to others, though Malc in the second half decided to have a chat with us for a while, before I spotted Trevor who seems to get everywhere in his wheelchair and all credit to him, lovely chap he is.

Not a lot of the football was actually watched, as people were just glad to be out the house away from the tennis and back at the footie and seeing old friends again, but Carlton Town did score about midway in to the Second Half and there were chances for both teams created and to be fair for the first kick about of the Pre-Season, it wasnt a bad match.

After I retreated in to the Tevvie Bar and had a couple of pints of Strongbow at just £2.80 a pint before the family joined me and my round got a bit more expensive before Mrs H drove me home.
Teversal FC do have a Tournement going on this coming 2 weeks and friend Richard Lane has offered me a lift to Wednesday Night's match between Belper Town v Maltby Main..Admission is £2 and a programme for the competition has been produced.
