Parkhouse FC's win is so Suite

PARKHOUSE FC 7 DFS WELBECK WELFARE 1

I was kindly invited to Parkhouse FC this season, after last season they were a host club for the CMFL Bonanza, to which they used their proceeds towards buying and decorating a new Hospitality Suite. With everything in place and with my mum wanting to go to a match with me, I rang Super Sec "Mr Parkhouse Nobby" to make arrangements for our visit.

On arrival, the 3 chaps on the gate gave us a kind welcome and a free programme and wouldnt charge me to go in. Then we met "Mr Parkhouse Hospitality John", who entertained us in the New Hospitality Suite with refreshments. Nobby came in and chattered away to my mum and soon became her fancyman for the afternoon! Infact, everyone made my mum really welcome and went out their way.

At 2.30pm, it was the BIG time, out came the Sky Blue Ribbon for me to cut and officially open the Parkhouse Bonanza Hospitality Suite and I was very honoured to be asked to do this.

The teams came out and the match began at a frantic pace with both sides playing some good football, with the game going from end to end. Then came a incident that I've only ever seen once before whilst watching football, the referee asked a Welbeck player to leave the field of play, as his under shorts were a different colour, as I know the CMFL have sent out no end of e-mails to the clubs that this is a FA Rule and at every meeting with the clubs it was announced. Well the player left the pitch, but then came back on to the pitch and the ref booked him for entering the field of play without permission.

Shortly after Parkhouse opened the scoring, but to Welbeck's credit, they came straight back and scored their first goal of the season and looked good value for it. Parkhouse then stepped it up just before half time and scored 2 more goals to lead 3-1.

In the 2nd Half, I joined Scott Carlton's mum, as poor Scott has been very ill of late and recently came out of hospital and it was brilliant to see him there yesterday. Scott's mum then went down the line and I stood with Vardy, the Welbeck player who had been booked in the first half incident and we had a bit of a laugh over a old incident that had occured whilst I was on my holidays some time ago.

Parkhouse's 4th goal came from a penalty which from the position where I was stood, looked a bit harsh to be given, but the referee was a lot closer than me to see and he is a very good referee.

Within a minute came the goal of the game and possibly the best goal I have seen this season so far, the ball was cut in to the box diagonal, the striker took the ball down in one scoop and bang the ball was in the back of the net before anyone could do anything about it.

Welbeck then bought on 2 subs, one only a little lad and the first thing he did was sprinted with the ball straight past the defender and he looked quite a good prospect for them. The other sub then went through and was only 4 yards out and I think nerves just got to him, as in front of goal, he just screwed his shot wide.

Parkhouse then went and scored another 2 goals to win the game comfortably, but I felt sorry for Welbeck as people will see this score and think they are the whipping boys, but to be fair, they never gave up, played some good football in parts and was a lot better than when I saw them last season.

In the pub after the match, Parkhouse FC kindly donated £10 towards the Blogs Charity, so with the £3 and the £2 for the goals, it has now taken the total up to a amazing £150.

Kirkby Town 1 Nottinghamshire Police 4

KIRKBY TOWN FC 1 NOTTINGHAMSHIRE POLICE FC 4

Well today I was going to go to Basford United v Sutton Town AFC, but a call on Friday from my son Simon asking if we could babysit my 8 month grandson was too good a opportunity to turn down. Without having a car, due to being sold a bad one only 13 weeksd ago and the Engine going on Monday along with thew head gasket and cam belt leaving it worth only scrap value, it meant looking for somewhere very local and somewhere easy for me to get to with my grandson Jacob.

I rang the delightful MichelleThorpe the Kirkby Sec to check the match was onand once confirmed, it was a matter of working out the train times, gee its only 10 minutes on the train from Mansfield Woodhouse to Sutton Parkway, but blooming eck, its 20 minutes walk to Mansfield Woodhouse trainstation from my house and 20 minutes walk to Kirkby's ground from Sutton Parkway, so I was knackered when I got there.

As people began to arrive, a few of the Police recoqnuised me, no not off the wanted posters, but from other clubs that they had been involved with over the years. Then Michelle Thorpe arrived and handed me a present from Kirkby Town FC, a Kirkby Town Hat and a treasured Kirkby Town FC Mug. I have made a donation towards the charity on the left hand side from Kirkby Town FC, thankyou Kirkby Town FC.

Then came the strange part and one I have only ever come across once before in football, the referee walks on to the pitch to say he is delaying the kick off, as the Notts Police goalkeeper is 5 minutes away and they dont have a goalkeeper on the bench! Another 10 minutes go by and the Kirkby Town team who are on the pitch are called back to the changing room area. Then on come the 2 sides and the game kicks off, after 10 minutes of the game, there is a sub, yes the Notts Police Keeper has arrived, so why did the game kick off at 3.20pm? oh well the sub seemed to unsettle the home side, as they seemed baffled and the Police found themselves in a 2 goal lead in the space of a 5 minute spell. Just as it looked as things couldnt get any worse for Kirkby, they conceded a third, but all credit to them, whilst Police were still smarting over that 3rd goal, the Kirkby 10 smashed a 30 yarder straight past the Police keeper to reduce the arrears.

The Second Half was more of a midfield battle with both sides creating and missing chances, and as usual, just towards the end of the game as i put my camera away, the Police finished off the scoring to make it 1-4.

On todays evidance, I hope I am wrong but in saying that Kirkby may well struggle unless they get the basics right quickly, as Police look quick up front but wasnt really tested at the back, so very difficult to access.

Headcount attendance by Fred Nelson was 35

Glapwell FC 6 Hutton Cranswick United 3

GLAPWELL FC 6 HUTTON CRANSWICK UNITED FC 3

After a phone call from Richard Lane asking if I'd like a lift to and from tonight's match, which I kindly accepted, Richard also donated his admission to my charity and Glapwell also let me in free of charge and the Admission as well the goal money has been added to the total on the left hand side of the page, it was off to Glapwell FC again for their 2nd Central Midlands Football League North Division match of the season. After watching them put in a subdued effort against a lively Thoresby CW on Saturday, I wasnt really sure what to expect from the home club.

On arrival, we was met by the friendly gateman and the Vice Chairman of the club, who opened up the Club Shop for us straight away..Richard tucked straight in to the box of programmes, looking for vintage CMFL club programmes for his collection, but my eye caught the Glapwell FC mug to add to my collection in my home cupboard. We then said our hello's to Debs the Club Sec and then to Paul Hepworth, the club Programme Editor and Website Manager(what ever you call them now days lol). After a cuppa, it was to head to the stands with old local friends from Chesterfield Dave Brierley & Pete Needham..Gee we didnt have time to take up our positions before the goals began to rain in. On saturday, Glappy were 3 down after 15 minutes, tonight, they were 4 up in that time, wow a cricket score was on the cards, but hold on, the visitors bought on a lively winger who centred and in the ball was volleyed in to reduced the arrears, was there to be a fight back..well fight back may be the wrong word, as the lively winger then slapped a Glappy player and saw the red card, so Cranswick 4-1 down and with 10 players looked well out of the game and then to add insult to injury, Glapwell scored two more goals to make it 6-1 at half time.

The Second Half kicked off and with Glapwell kicking down the slope, we was expecting double figures against a team with 10 men, but strange things happen in football and on 49 minutes, Cranswick made it 6-2 and on 51, it was 6-3....surely Cranswick could not come back from 6-1 down to get something out of this game, the answer was no, as the game drifted in to the night and no more goals were scored. What a shame that my head count was only 32 at this game, little village clubs like this do need the support and its a pity when people go and pay £20 to go and watch some rubbish at Football League and get ripped off, when they could go and support their local community club..There are so  many community clubs like these 2 on display tonight where that £1 on the raffle means so much to them.

Glapwell FC 1 Thoresby Colliery Welfare 4

GLAPWELL FC 1 THORESBY COLLIERY WELFARE 4

The Line -Up's Above

Well I had to look back in my history book this evening as I really couldnt remember the last time I actually wen to Glapwell FC for a League Match, but it was in the Central Midlands Football, where Arnold Town needed to win by 3 clears goals to gain promotion, so it must have been in 1992/93 season, gee and what has happened since then, sadly Glapwell FC nearly folded during the close season and a good strong friendly committee decided to keep them alive whilst other people may well have just thrown the towel in and the club would have gone under..Well done to these people, as these are the true heroes of our game!

Well Glapwell FC have had to go back to their roots in the Central Midlands League and their First Home match was against Thoresby Colliery Welfare, who last season had their best ever season in their clubs history, so I thought this match may be a very tight local Derby in the North Division of the CMFL.

Glapwell FC came out and had their teams photos taken

The game kicked off with the visitors kicking down the hill and attacking the home defence. The Home defence seemed to be a little slow at first and before they knew it, they were 3-0 down after 24 minutes to a PANTING hat-trick. On 36 minutes, Glapwell reduced the arrears and went in looking the better side at the time and the feeling was, if they managed to score quickly in the 2nd half then this game wasnt over, infact there was a few people making predictions of a Glapwell 4-3 win!

Glapwell did come out on thE attack but Thoresby were defending very solid in numbers, but were nearly unsewn when a dipping shot from 30 yards crashed across the crossbar with the visiting keeper beaten.
This seemed to be the turning point of the game and possibly Glapwell's last hope, as Thoresby then seemed to be more solid at the back and played on the break at the front, but right in injury time a superb overheaed kick by Stretton left the home keeper just watching as the ball hit the back of the net.

Headcount by me was 38 which I thought there may be a few more there. The club has a nice clubhouse with bar and also a Club Shop with old programmes, badges etc inside, if not open you only have to ask and someone will open it for you. Lovely people, so if you havent visited Glapwell FC then why not, nice ground.
The £3 enterance was donated to the charity total plus 5 goals today.

HONOURS EVEN AT THE DROME

LOUGHBOROUGH FC 1 KIMBERLEY TOWN 1

When I saw this Pre-Season Fixture advertised some weeks ago, it appealed to me for a few reasons, about 15 years ago I was a regular visitor to the Drome the home of Loughborough Athletic FC(they have since dropped the Athletic part of their name now), infact I set up a friendly there with South Western League Club Cullumpton Rangers.

I rang Graeme Critchley, the Chair/Manager of Kimberley Town FC to ask if there was any chance of a list and he duly offered me a lift and to be at the pick up spot in Mansfield just round the corner from my house at 11.30am. Graeme had a few players short with holidays and work and one player playing five a side at Wembley, didnt know they had cut the pitch down that small!

We arrived at Kimberley's pick up spot and everyone was on time, so we left and on to Junction 26 of the M1 and it wasnt long before we went round the maze of factories to find the Drome at the back of Charnwood Golf Range.

The first person I was to meet was old friend John Belton, the Loughborough Sec who explained to me and this is where you hoppers may well be interested, they are the ONLY CLUB in the Leicester & Distrist League that issue a Programme at all HOME League Matches. They have a tea bat, so i had a coffee, whilst I looked round and looked at all the changes and improvements that have happened since i last visited this place. There is a extra stand on the enterance side as you go in, there is a stand on the far side, both with seats in, They have enclosed the ground, as before you used to have to get changed up near the Golf Range and duck golf balls coming towards you, now they have porta-cabins that are solar powered and eco-friendly..This is a ground that you Must put on your hit list, but ring up before and reserve your programme, as they only produce about 10 per game.

Well the match began in overcast conditions but flowed from end to end with no team really taking any advantage, though both keepers were called in to action to make vital saves before the 20 minute mark. The sun then came out and the visitors lapsed concentration for a second in midfield and before they knew it, the winger intercepted the ball and ran through the heart of the defence and smashed the ball home to the delight of a chap with 3 kids in front of me, who said"thats the first time I've ever seen Loughorough taken the lead" as quick as a flash, his little son replied said " have you ever seen them win dad" the poor chap went silent lol

Half Time came and Kimberley only had 2 or 3 subs to bring on, as Loughborough altered their side and the visitors threatened straight away for a equaliser, but as the game wore on, it looked likely that the homesters were going to hold on for that win. With 15 minutes to go, a break on the right in to the Loughborough box, saw the attacker bought down and the referee pointed straight to the spot, which the number 9 stepped up and buried in to the goalkeepers bottom left corner. Five minutes later and Kimberley had a bounce in their step and a player went down and a penalty appeal was turned down, which now the home side were playing on the break. With just five minutes to go, Kimberley were awarded a second penalty and the same taker hit the ball in exactly the same position as the one he had scored but this time the keeper matched him with a superb save to deny him scoring.

Must say a great afternoon spent with some great people and nice to catch up with some old friends
